A young girl is told to dream upon a star, and instead she built a rocket to fly amongst them.

SYNOPSIS

In this full length documentary, we follow the story of a young girl, Eleni, as she navigates adolescence while pursuing her passion of building rockets. By combining an honest depiction of the timeless coming of age story, with a peek into the competitive, male dominated and intense community of rocketry, this film weaves together a story of what it means to be grow up, to have a goal, and to pursue it.

ARTISTIC STATEMENT

With an original unique aesthetic this documentary will tell its story through a specific visual landscape. We follow the story through thoughtfully composed cinéma-verité, occasionally juxtaposed by abstract shots of the rocketry. These will be taken by cameras rigged to and strapped inside rockets, creating a rapid motion and differing perspective. By contrasting an intimate and pensive portrayal of Eleni’s world, with the extremes of rocketry and teenage social life, the visual dynamic will support the narrative arch of the film. With a background in photography and visual art, Agnieszka Swierczs'  cohesive vision ties together artistic cinematography and in depth storytelling.
