True Strength Comes from Within...

ARTISTIC STATEMENT

This film will be challenging, but that is not a reason to avoid something. My two greatest assets are my ability to communicate my intention to my cast and crew and a tenacious drive to see my vision take hold. As far as the nuts and bolts of getting this done… One of my best friends was Vice President of Jersey Shore Pop Warner and is deeply connected to the football program in my hometown of Freehold, NJ where I plan to shoot. I have ties to this community and will be able to keep my budget reasonable while creating a family environment on set. We are also filming and editing a football promo for the local pop warner team we will be utilizing as a way to give back to the community. I have experience working with children from my past projects, but our success hinges on finding kids that can hold the emotion of the role, while also being extremely physical. Bullying doesn’t start in schools – it ends there. I want KISS THE BRUISE to give our audience a glimpse into a child’s world who suffers at the hands of this kind of abuse, but refuses to become his tormentor. - Barry Dorsey/director
